Environmental Policy - Maerdy Holiday Cottages We exercise an environmentally sensitive business taking care to minimise the risks which contribute the alleged climate change. We have installed long life bulbs where appropriate, time clocks on central heating systems and charge visitors for their consumption of electricity and gas where in excess of allowance. Trees are dried, cut and used in the log burners. We ask visitors to help us by separating washed bottles, cans, plastics and paper in to the containers provided from their kitchen waste. Also to put all vegetable matter from their kitchen waste on to our compost heaps, which is used on our gardens all the year. We ask visitors not to overfill the cottage dustbins but to put full and closed black plastic bags into the central collection box by the electric gates. Overfilled dustbins, unsealed plastic bags left out attract stray cats, local cats and dogs and rats from the farms, which comprise a serious nuisance. An up-to-date environmental policy will always be maintained on this site.
